So, you’ve never done Pilates before?

You’ve come to the right place. Here’s what to expect from your first class.

  1. When you walk in, your instructor will get you to fill out a client waiver form. This is for you to let us know of any previous or existing injuries or health matters for us to be aware of. This is kept private between your instructor and you.

  2. Your instructor will walk you through and explain how to work the reformer machine, the equipment we use, and how the workout will flow. Feel free to ask any questions!

  3. Expect to listen a lot! Your instructor will verbally cue you through every move as well as our modern TVs visually guiding you. Try not to overthink every move, just flow and let your ears guide your body.

  4. There will be lots of new language to learn. Neutral/Imprinted spine, articulation, hinge, mind/body connection are words you can expect to hear. Don’t worry, they’ll start to make sense every time you workout.

  5. Expect to learn how to breathe. Yes, that’s right. Coordinating your breath with your movement makes all the difference but may feel unfamiliar at first. Don’t worry, your instructor will cue you so you’re not guessing when to inhale/exhale.

  6. Last but not least, you can expect to become obsessed with pilates and how it leaves you feeling amazing in your body!
